ALTO is a square ceiling light 15 cm on a side and just 6.5 cm deep, made of aluminium and steel and finished in white. The light comes out not from the whole face but from a rectangular aperture in the middle — from outside the fitting stays a matt white solid, and only its centre lights up. 444 lm — this is accent light, not room lighting Worth settling at the outset, because it decides whether the purchase makes sense. The built-in LED module draws 9 W and delivers 444 lm — roughly what an old 40 W incandescent gave. That is too little to light a room, and exactly enough to mark out a stretch of ceiling, an alcove, a corridor or a section of wall. Efficacy works out at about 49 lm/W, typical of a small decorative fitting where form takes priority over output. In practice ALTO is used in series: several units spaced along a corridor or above a run of cabinets build a rhythm that one unit cannot. As the only source in a room it works only in a very small space — a wardrobe, a pantry, a porch. 3000 K and no dimming The light colour is 3000 K — warm white, the same register as a classic incandescent, and it sits well against wood and pale plaster. The value is fixed: the fitting has no colour switch. ALTO is not dimmable. The manufacturer states this plainly. Connection to a phase-cut dimmer is not envisaged, and trying to control the brightness will end in flicker or a failure to strike. If the location needs dimming, this is not the right model. Construction and installation The body combines aluminium and steel — the aluminium carries heat away from the module, the steel gives the housing its rigidity. The side profile is a wedge: the fitting sits flat against the surface across its whole base while its thickness varies across the section, which makes the solid read lighter than the dimensions suggest. Supply is 230 V straight from the mains — no external driver is needed. The LED module is integrated and not replaceable: there is no cap and no socket here, so when the diodes are spent the whole fitting is replaced rather than a bulb. That is normal at this size, but worth knowing before buying a larger number. The IP20 rating confines it to dry interiors — bathroom protection zones, covered terraces and outdoors are all out.
