GFA1840 is a linear light module for a 48 V magnetic track from the Italian brand Gea Luce. The slim white bar, 302 mm long and only 19 mm wide, seats into the track magnetically — no screws, no tools, without removing neighbouring modules. The 48 V system — the first thing to check before buyingThis is not a 230 V fitting and cannot be connected to the mains directly. The module runs on 48 V DC safety extra-low voltage and needs two components that are not included:a 48 V magnetic track — surface, recessed or suspended, with a profile matching the Gea Luce system;a 48 V driver rated for the total load of all modules on the run.Magnetic tracks from different manufacturers use different contact geometry and are not mutually compatible. Confirm before ordering that the module will go onto a track from the same system family.In return the 48 V system offers what a 230 V track cannot: protection class III (touch-safe voltage — modules can be moved and swapped with the run live), a flat, minimal track with no visible adapters, and the freedom to mix linear modules, spotlights and pendants along a single line. 700 lm from 30 centimetres — how to place it The module draws 12 W and delivers 700 lm, about 58 lm/W. That figure is lower than in a general-purpose fitting, and rightly so: this is an accent luminaire with high CRI, where light quality takes priority over maximum lumens per watt. The 110° beam is wide for a linear module — the output is not squeezed into a narrow stripe but washes the surface below the track evenly. That is the property you want above a counter, a worktop, a retail shelf or a long table. CRI above 90 — why it changes the application A colour rendering index above 90 puts this module outside the category of ordinary utility lighting. At Ra > 90 the differences between fabric shades, wood grain, skin tone and the colour of food are rendered faithfully — which is why such modules end up in clothing shops, interior showrooms, galleries, hospitality and display spaces, and at home above a kitchen island or a dining table. The warm 3000 K completes the picture: it flatters wood, brass and warmer skin tones. Dimensions and form The manufacturer's technical drawing gives: length 302 mm, width 19 mm, body height 14 mm and 27.5 mm including the magnetic adapter that enters the track. The housing is aluminium — here the aluminium acts as a heatsink, which with a permanently fitted LED module is what makes the declared 25,000 h life achievable. The finish is white and matt, with a diffuser running the full length. IP20 restricts use to dry interiors. The diode is permanently built in — at end of life the whole module is replaced, which in a magnetic system takes seconds and requires no work on the wiring.
