FINT is a pendant from the Polish brand Thoro shaped as a wide, shallow cone 50 cm across and only 15 cm deep. The painted steel shade in mocca hangs on a black cable beneath a small colour-matched canopy of 6 × 6 × 8 cm. Switched off it is a matt, dark form; lit, it turns into a uniform luminous disc half a metre wide. A honeycomb mesh — why this cone does not glare A flat, wide cone has one built-in problem: sitting at a table you look into it at an angle and would normally see the light source directly. Thoro solves this with an additional honeycomb-structured mesh fitted inside the shade. The lattice screens the diodes when viewed from the side and lets light through downwards — the same mechanism used in office fittings to cut glare. In practice that means the lamp can be hung low over a worktop, at the eye level of someone seated, without dazzling. Dimming: the TRIAC driver is included This is the fact that usually goes missing from listings and that decides the purchase. The lamp ships with a dimmable TRIAC driver — meaning it works with an ordinary phase-cut dimmer fitted in a wall box, the same kind used for traditional bulbs. No bus, no controller, no app. Two things to keep in mind, though: the dimmer itself is not included (it is bought separately and fitted in place of the switch), and it must be rated for LED loads — at 7.5 W the fitting is a very light load, and cheap phase-cut dimmers can flicker or fail to strike at such low power. The manufacturer also emphasises Anti-Flicker technology — no visible flicker, achieved by using drivers from established makers (TCI, Mean Well, KGP). Declared source life is 50,000 hours. The light source is integrated and supplied with the lamp — there is no E27 thread and no replaceable bulb. That is a deliberate design choice: without a cap and envelope the inside of the shade stays clean, but at the end of the module's life the fitting is replaced or sent for service. Build and installation Shade and canopy are steel painted in mocca — a warm, muted brown that sits well with wood, terracotta and natural-toned textiles. The cable is black, deliberately contrasting with the body. Maximum drop is 200 cm, so the lamp can hang low over a table or in a room with a high ceiling. Worth knowing before you order The dimmer is not included — the driver is dimmable (TRIAC), but the control is bought separately. At 7.5 W choose a dimmer with a low minimum load, otherwise the lamp may flicker or fail to light. The source is integrated — no bulb to buy, but none to change years later either.
