ORBIT 5001 is a wall light from the Polish brand Zuma Line – a white glass globe set at the top of a slim black rod 55 cm tall. A rod that carries on past its bracket The mounting is the unusual part: the rod does not stop at the bracket but continues on downwards past it. A short cylindrical arm fixes it to the wall about halfway along, so the fitting reads as a line pinned to the wall, with the globe floating above the point of support. The result is a tall vertical accent without the mass of a full-size lamp: the whole fitting weighs under 0.7 kg. An opal glass globe The shade is white opal glass, closed on every side, so it glows evenly in all directions and the filament never shows. The light is soft and atmospheric – good beside a bed, next to an armchair, or in pairs either side of a mirror. The contrast of white globe against black metal belongs to the modernist family of fittings: it suits both a minimal interior and one with strongly coloured walls. You choose the lamp The holder takes an E27 lamp of up to 40 W. The manufacturer allows both a classic incandescent and an LED – in practice a 5–9 W LED is the sensible choice: 500–800 lm with almost no heat in the shade. The light source is not included, so the colour temperature is yours to pick; for a bedroom, warm white around 2700 K works best. Because the glass is opal, the shape of the bulb is irrelevant – it will not be seen. Installation The fitting is fixed to the wall; the supply cable comes out of the back box behind it. Supply is 230–240 V. The luminaire is intended for dry interiors only – do not fit it in a bathroom zone exposed to moisture. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
