MOHITO 1214 is a pendant from the ARGON 2025/2026 collection in the classic drum shape: a shallow cylinder 450 mm across and only 125 mm deep, hung on three fine cables beneath a 140 mm ceiling rose. Overall height reaches 950 mm, of which 800 mm is cable – it can be shortened during installation. Black outside, silver inside The manufacturer describes the colour as "textured black outside, silver inside", and that pairing is what makes this fitting work. The outer surface is matt with a perceptible texture, so the drum reads as a compact dark mass. The inside, however, is silver and reflective: the light from three lamps bounces around it repeatedly before leaving the fitting through the glass diffuser in the base. The result is an evenly bright disc seen from below against a dark silhouette from the side – it throws light down rather than sideways, so it does not glare into the eyes of people seated at a table. Three E27 lamps The drum holds three E27 sockets rated at a maximum of 15 W each. The manufacturer specifies LED lamps. Lamps are not included. One easily missed constraint applies when choosing them: the ARGON instructions give a maximum envelope size of ø 50 mm and 105 mm long. That rules out large decorative lamps of the globe or ST64 type – they simply do not fit inside a drum 125 mm deep. A standard A60 LED lamp stays well within the limit. Since the glass diffuser hides the lamps from below, their appearance does not matter anyway. Dimming The fitting is a passive E27 holder with no electronics of its own, and the manufacturer marks it as dimmer-compatible. Brightness control is therefore possible provided you fit dimmable LED lamps and a dimmer rated for that load. With three lamps at 15 W the total load is at most 45 W – check the dimmer's minimum load. Installation A metal bracket is screwed to the ceiling on two plugs and the rose fixes to it. The fitting is protection class I – the box must carry a protective earth. Lamps go in after removing the lower diffuser, which then twists back into place. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry interiors. Where it fits At 45 cm across, MOHITO 1214 handles a round dining table or the centre of a smaller living room on its own. The shallow drum takes no headroom, which matters in a flat with a standard ceiling. Net weight is 6.8 kg and gross 7.7 kg – this is a solid steel construction, so the fixing has to reach the structural ceiling rather than plasterboard alone. The MOHITO family The same collection includes MOHITO 1213 – the identical pendant in textured white with a gold interior – and two two-light ceiling fittings 350 mm across and 130 mm deep: MOHITO 703 (white/gold) and MOHITO 704 (black/silver).
