Asker 1514 is a compact rectangular façade wall light measuring 22.5 × 11 × 8.5 cm in a Cement Grey finish — a concrete grey that does not clash with render or architectural concrete. Light leaves only through the bottom: the distribution is single-sided, symmetrical and directed downward, and the upward light output ratio is exactly 0%. No light upward The fitting is rated B0-U0-G0 on the BUG scale and the manufacturer marks it as Dark Sky friendly. In practice that means three things: nothing shines into the sky, nothing spills sideways beyond the fitting's outline, and nobody is dazzled looking at the façade from the street. For terraced housing, a plot next to a neighbour's bedroom, or a site subject to local light-pollution rules, that is not a detail but a condition of approval. An E27 socket rather than an LED module Asker has no built-in LED module — it takes an ordinary E27 lamp, and the end user changes it without an electrician. The manufacturer states a maximum LED rating of 9 W and names specific tested sources: Osram LED Parathom Classic E27, Philips Master LEDbulb, plus Osram ECO PRO Classic and Philips ECO Classic halogens in 60 W and 42 W equivalents. The fitting can also be ordered with a dimmable Philips Master LEDbulb, 806 lm / 8.5 W / 2700 K. Colour temperature and output therefore depend entirely on the lamp you choose — this is a fitting you can retune years later instead of replacing. Materials and sealing The body is powder-coated cast aluminium. The lens is clear structured polycarbonate, UV stabilised — so it will not haze or yellow in the sun the way ordinary plastic does. Sealing is by a silicone gasket and an EPDM cable gland. The fitting is rated IP65 (dust-tight, resistant to water jets from any direction) and IK08 for impact. Terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm², with the option to loop on to further fittings using up to 3 × 1.5 mm² — so a row of sconces along a façade can be fed from a single circuit. The gland accepts round cable of 6–10 mm diameter. The fitting is class I, so the circuit needs a PE earth conductor; outdoors, residual current protection is required as well. Where it works At a front door, along a façade, on a terrace, in a loggia and on garage walls — anywhere light is wanted beneath the fitting rather than as a halo around it. A row of Askers at even spacing gives a legible rhythm and practical light on a path without illuminating upper-floor windows. The −20 to +45 °C operating range covers a full year of Central European conditions.
