RIO 3 is a chandelier made of three rings, 110, 78 and 55 cm across, hung one below the other on transparent cables. The profiles are aluminium finished in matt red ochre, and a white band of light runs along the underside of each ring — the whole fitting throws its light downward. How big it is and how it hangs The largest ring is 110 cm in diameter — a figure to set against the width of the table or island it will hang over. The composition reaches 150 cm below the ceiling, and the ceiling rose is 24 cm across and 2.5 cm deep. The whole chandelier weighs 16.75 kg. That rules out an ordinary hook and a fixing into plasterboard alone: the fitting screws to a mounting bar, and that bar has to reach the structural ceiling or the frame of a suspended one. It is worth settling before ordering. How much light it gives Three LED modules deliver 11,840 lm between them at 100 W. That is roughly fifteen times a former 60 W bulb — a fitting meant as the only light in a large room. 4000 K is neutral white, whiter than the usual living-room light and closer to daylight. The colour rendering index is Ra 98, against the Ra 80 usual on decorative fittings. At that value the colours of fabric, wood and food under the lamp look practically as they do in daylight, which counts over a dining table. The sources are permanently built in — there are no bulbs to change, and the manufacturer quotes 50,000 hours of module life. In the standard version the fitting has no brightness control. Control systems — remote, app, DALI and PUSH DIMM — are offered by the manufacturer as a made-to-order variant, so they cannot be added after purchase. Build and connection The rings and the ceiling rose are aluminium in the same red-ochre shade, and the suspension cables are transparent. The fitting is protection class I: it needs the protective conductor connected, so an earth has to be brought out at the ceiling. Supply is 230 V, 50 Hz. The manufacturer states Polish production, a five-year warranty and drivers chosen to suppress flicker.
