CALA 8078 is a single pendant just 10 cm across in aluminium painted white RAL 9010, on a 2 m black cord. The built-in LED delivers 420 lm from 6 W at 3000 K. A small module with a specific job Ø 10 cm is the size at which a fitting stops being furniture and becomes a point. 420 lm from one body will not light a room — and that is not the intent. CALA is designed for situations where you want concentrated light over a specific place: over a kitchen island, over a bar counter, in a row above a table, or singly over a bedside table instead of a lamp. Mantra publishes two flux figures, and the difference is worth understanding: 420 lm is the useful flux leaving the fitting downward, while 500 lm is measured over the full 360° sphere. The first number tells you how much light actually reaches the worktop. Efficacy works out at 70 lm/W, and the colour rendering index is CRI 80 — a working level, sufficient over a dining table and in a kitchen. Height: adjustable, but plan it The manufacturer gives a maximum drop of 255 cm and confirms height adjustment outright. The cord is 2 m, so there is plenty of slack, but it is shortened at installation — this is not a mechanism you re-set later in one movement. Reference points for planning: over an island or table: 70–85 cm from the surface to the bottom of the shade; in a row: 60–80 cm between bodies — at Ø 10 cm the fittings do not merge and produce a clear rhythm; in a circulation route: the bottom edge no lower than about 210 cm above the floor. What the fitting does not do It is not dimmable — the manufacturer states so outright. The brightness is fixed and a dimmer on the circuit achieves nothing. The light source is not replaceable (Mantra: "Replaceable: No"). There is no socket and no bulb. Declared life is 30,000 hours, and the switching count is also 30,000 — over an island, where the light is switched a dozen times a day, that second figure can matter more than the first. 3000 K is fixed, with no switching. IP20 — dry interiors only; over an island yes, over a sink no. Construction Material: metal / aluminium, finish RAL 9010 (pure white with a slight warmth — not a snow white). Protection class II — double insulated, no earth conductor. That simplifies fitting to older wiring. Supply 220–240 V ~ 50/60 Hz. Weight 0.6 kg — light; an ordinary hook or plug is enough.
