Palma is a small outdoor wall lantern in a black finish, built from aluminium with clear glass panes. The body tapers downwards, the roof is a shallow pyramid and a decorative palm-leaf finial sits on top of it. The back plate is flat and lies against the wall. Brand: Hinkley, distributed by Elstead Lighting. How big it is and what it mounts on The lantern is 36.8 cm high and 20.3 cm wide, and it stands 24.3 cm out from the wall. That last figure is the one to compare with the space you have between the door frame and the edge of the walkway — it projects far enough that on a narrow entrance it has to be set to one side. The fitting weighs 2.5 kg. The flat back plate needs a flat surface. For mounting on a building corner the manufacturer offers separate corner brackets, C-BKT2-BLACK and C-BKT2-BROWN; they are not included and are ordered separately. How much light it gives and what you need to buy There is one light point inside with an E27 socket, rated for a lamp of up to 60 W. No lamp is included, so you choose the colour and the brightness yourself — by a front door the usual choice is warm light of 2700–3000 K, with a slightly yellow cast. The lampholder hangs at the top and points the lamp downwards, and the glass is clear on every side: the lamp itself stays visible through the panes, so its shape becomes part of how the lantern looks. The fitting works with dimmable lamps — to vary the brightness you need a lamp described as dimmable and a dimmer in the circuit.
