EYE is a three-head spotlight bar of 50 cm length, made of metal in a silver finish. Three GU10 sockets, IP20, 230 V supply. Product code 2098. Three points of light from one ceiling boxThe point of a spotlight bar is that a single connection in the ceiling becomes three separate light sources, spread across half a metre. Instead of one circle of light under the fitting you get three smaller pools that can be laid out along a worktop, a bookcase or a wall of pictures.It earns its keep above all where new wiring cannot be run: in a rented flat, on a loft slope, above a hallway mirror or in a display window. One box, three points, and no chasing into the wall. GU10 sockets — the light is your choiceThe fitting does not include lamps. At first glance a drawback; in practice it is the greatest advantage of the GU10 socket, because you choose the light yourself and can change it at any time without replacing the fitting:Beam angle — 36° to accent a single picture or object, 60° to light a wider stretch of wall or worktop evenly;Colour temperature — 2700–3000 K for a living room or bedroom, 4000 K over a work surface, in an office or a display;Brightness — from a few hundred lumens for accent work to over 500 lm per lamp if the bar is to light a room;Dimming — available, provided you pick dimmable GU10 LED lamps and a dimmer rated for LED loads.One rule matters more than the rest: buy three identical lamps from one batch. With three spotlights side by side even a small colour difference shows immediately, and the spread between manufacturers is often wider than the spread between their stated figures. Dimensions — 50 cm is a lot for a barEYE measures 50 cm long, 10 cm wide and 15 cm high. Compare those figures with the position before the fitting arrives:Half a metre is more than a typical two-head bar (usually 20–30 cm), so above a narrow mirror or in a small hallway it can dominate the wall;15 cm of height matters on a sloping ceiling and under a low beam — the heads stand off the mounting surface and need clearance;Mounted above a worktop, half a metre lets the three points be spread to cover the whole working zone rather than just its centre. The bar is not suitable for bathroom zones 0–2 (over a bath, over a shower, within reach of a jet) or for outdoor use. In a bathroom it may only go outside those zones — above the door, say, or above a mirror set back from the basin.Check the maximum lamp wattage in the instructions supplied with the fitting before buying lamps. The metal head carries heat away, but every fitting has a stated limit, and exceeding it shortens the life of both the lamp and the socket.You need three GU10 lamps to complete it.
