Latina is an octagonal cast-aluminium lantern in a green patina finish, 29 cm across and 15 cm deep. NORLYS intends it for both ceiling and wall — the same fitting, fixed through two holes. Patina — a finish, not a colour from a chart Standard Latina comes in black, white and corten steel; patina is an optional finish applied over the bare casting, and it is what gives the lantern its old palace-lamp character. Green patina reads like weathered copper — against render, red brick or timber it looks like something that has been there for years rather than a new addition. Underneath it is still aluminium: it does not rust, and it does not keep changing the way real copper would. How much light, and which bulb — the paragraph that matters most The fitting has an E27 socket, but NORLYS rates it at "LED max 9W" — stated twice, once for the light source and once for the luminaire. That is a limit, not a suggestion: Allowed: an E27 LED bulb up to 9 W (typically 800–1000 lm, the equivalent of an old 60–75 W lamp). Not allowed: a 40–60 W incandescent or halogen. It will fit the socket, but inside a sealed enclosure with a plastic diffuser it exceeds the intended thermal budget several times over. The bulb is not included. The NORLYS catalogue lists 2700 K (warm white, classic look) or 4000 K (neutral white, more technical) sources for this family. For a palace-style lantern, 2700 K is the more natural choice. Diffuser and the character of the light Eight trapezoidal panes plus an octagonal centre pane are filled with structured polycarbonate (PC) with a UV filter. The texture diffuses the light, so the filament is not visible as a point and the lantern does not dazzle when seen from the doorway. The UV filter is not decoration — without one, polycarbonate exposed to sun yellows and clouds within a few seasons; with it, the diffuser stays clear far longer. Sealing, frost and heat IP44 — protection against splashing water from any direction. That is the right level for a façade, porch, loggia or garden pavilion. Not for pressure washing, and not where water can stand. Sealing: a silicone gasket on the diffuser plus an EPDM gland at the cable entry. Operating range −20 °C to +45 °C (reference Ta +25 °C) — stated explicitly, so a northern winter is not left to guesswork. Installation — the data usually missing Protection class II: double insulated, no earth conductor required. On an older garden circuit without an earth, that is often the deciding factor. Fixed through 2 holes, to a wall or a ceiling. Terminals: max 2 × 2.5 mm², with loop-in wiring between luminaires, max 2 × 1.5 mm². In practice: several lanterns along a loggia can run off one cable, with no junction boxes. Entry for round insulated cable of Ø 7–10.5 mm. Supply ~220–240 V, 50–60 Hz. Weight 1.60 kg — light, but the fixings are chosen for the façade material, not for the weight. Serviceability NORLYS describes Latina as having a fully replaceable electrical kit and as being suitable for extreme conditions. On a garden fitting that spends years in damp and frost, a replaceable lampholder and terminal block mean an electrical failure does not end the life of the casting.
