Berlin 611BC Outdoor Wall Sconce, Copper, E27, NORLYS

Name: Berlin 611BC Outdoor Wall Sconce, Copper, E27, NORLYS
Brand: NORLYS

Berlin 611BC is a round outdoor wall light with a milky domed diffuser, topped by an eyelid hood with two horizontal bars. The body is cast aluminium, powder-coated in a copper patina finish – a dark bronze tone with lighter, worn-looking highlights on the edges. It belongs to the Berlin series by the Norwegian maker Norlys.Size and mountingThe light is 27 cm across and projects 14 cm from the wall – a figure to check against the spot beside your door, where the door leaf swings or people walk past. It weighs 1.75 kg and fixes through two ø4.2 mm holes spaced 155 × 40 mm apart. The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm², and a round cable 7–10.5 mm in diameter enters through the cable gland. Loop-through wiring with conductors up to 3 × 1.5 mm² is possible, so several lights can be fed one after another from a single circuit. It is a protection class I luminaire, so it needs the earth conductor connected.Which bulb to chooseThe holder is E27, designed for an A55 or A60 LED bulb of up to 9 W. The bulb is not included and the user replaces it without a service visit. You therefore choose the light colour when buying the bulb – by a front door 2700–3000 K is the usual pick, a warm, slightly yellowish light. The milky diffuser spreads the light so no bright bulb point shows, and the hood covers the upper part of the diffuser. The maker describes the distribution as diffuse, hemispherical light directed downwards – the light falls mainly on the wall and the ground beneath it.Build and outdoor useThe diffuser is UV-stabilised polycarbonate, which slows the plastic yellowing in sunlight. IP54 means protection against dust and water splashed from any direction, so the light can hang on a façade exposed to rain. Impact resistance IK10 is the top grade of that scale – the enclosure withstands a 20 J impact, which matters by an entrance and at a height people can easily reach. The gasket is silicone and the cable gland EPDM. The maker rates it for ambient temperatures from -20 to +45 °C and lists the diffuser and the gasket as spare parts – so a damaged diffuser can be replaced instead of buying a whole new light.Show more
