Sola is a 675 mm tall table lamp with a hand-blown clear glass body in a moulded diamond pattern and metalwork in polished nickel. The 410 mm shade is made in the United Kingdom from faux silk in the silver Titanium shade and lined in white. The lamp carries two independent light sources: one in the shade and one inside the glass base. How big it is and how much room it takes Overall height is 675 mm, of which 380 mm is the glass base. The shade measures 410 mm across and 250 mm high, and the base stands on a 240 mm disc — a figure to compare with the depth of the table it is meant to stand on. At 5.58 kg the lamp stands firmly. It runs from a wall socket, so connecting it needs no work on the wiring. Two independent sources and the switch on the base A four-position rotary switch sits on the metal cap of the base: turning it selects the shade alone, the base alone, both, or off. The lit glass gives light at low brightness, enough to leave the lamp on through the evening without the main source. Inside the base is a 9 W LED module with a GX53 base, and that is the one supplied: it gives 720 lm at 3000 K, a warm white, with a stated life of 25,000 hours. The socket in the shade is E27 rated to 60 W, and that bulb is not included. The metal parts — cap, shade harp and finial — are finished in polished nickel, and the shade itself is sewn in the United Kingdom from faux silk with a white lining. The lamp is class I, so the socket has to carry an earth contact, and the cable is transparent PVC. The manufacturer intends it for indoor use only, with a two-year guarantee.
