RIO BIO 110 is a chandelier built as a black metal ring 110 cm across with a 4 cm deep profile. A frame runs inside the hoop to stand potted plants on, and an LED strip is fitted to the inner face of the ring, throwing its light downwards. How big it is and at what height to hang it Before the ring goes over a dining table, set its 110 cm against the width of the top — above a table 80–90 cm wide, the hoop overhangs both edges. The fitting hangs on cables with a maximum drop of 200 cm, shortened during installation. The bottom edge of the ring is usually set 70–80 cm above the table top: the light then covers the whole surface and the plants inside the hoop stay at eye level. The whole piece weighs 5.3 kg, and the 18 cm canopy covers a standard back box. How much light it gives and of what kind The LED strip draws 47 W and delivers 5565 lm — roughly seven times an old 60 W incandescent bulb, which is enough to light a whole room rather than only the table top. The 4000 K colour is neutral white: cooler than filament light, without a blue cast. The manufacturer declares a colour rendering index of Ra 98 against the usual norm of 80. At that value the colours of food, wood and fabric look almost as they do in daylight — which matters over a table. The light leaves the fitting downwards only, onto the surface beneath it; the ceiling and the upper walls stay dark. The source is built into the ring and sold with it, so no bulb has to be bought, but it cannot be changed once the LEDs are spent. The manufacturer rates the fitting energy class F. Installation and build The fitting is protection class I, which means the circuit has to carry an earth conductor — in older buildings without earthing that is worth checking before buying. It runs on 230 V, 50 Hz, and the suspension cables are transparent, so what shows above the table is mainly the ring itself. RIO BIO is made in Poland and carries a five-year manufacturer warranty.
