RIO 78 is a ceiling lamp shaped as a closed ring 78 cm across, finished in matt beige. The ring sits on a short arm that comes out of a round canopy, so it stands a few centimetres clear of the ceiling rather than flat against it. The light leaves downwards, from the underside of the ring. How much ceiling it takes up The ring itself measures 78 cm across; with the arm and canopy the fitting spans 84 cm at its widest — compare that with the clear ceiling area you have above a table or in the middle of the room. It is 13 cm high, so it stays close to the ceiling and keeps out of the way even in a room of ordinary height. The canopy measures 17/13 cm and covers a standard junction box. The fitting weighs 1.9 kg. It is built to protection class I, which means the wiring must include an earth conductor. The light it gives The LED module delivers 4370 lm from 33 W — roughly the brightness of five old 60 W bulbs, enough for RIO 78 to be the only light in a room rather than an addition to it. At 3000 K the colour is warm white: clearly warmer than daylight, but without the yellow cast of 2700 K. A colour rendering index of Ra 93 is high for a decorative fitting — fabrics, wood and food look close to how they look in daylight, which matters over a dining table and above a worktop. The whole output is aimed downwards, onto the surface below the ring. Light source and control The LED module is permanently built in and supplied with the fitting: you do not buy a bulb, but you cannot replace one either — when the module reaches the end of its life the whole fitting is replaced. The energy efficiency class is F. In this version the lamp comes on at full output as soon as it is switched on. The manufacturer does offer the same fitting in controllable builds — remote, app, DALI or PUSH DIMM — but those are separate orders, not features of this item.Show more
