The ZAMBELIS E247-W is a recessed step light built into an exterior wall. Its rectangular aluminium bezel in a sandy white finish measures 14 × 7 cm, while the rest of the body and its opal polycarbonate diffuser sit inside the wall. The recessed mounting box is supplied with the fitting. How much room the wall has to give The opening measures roughly 13 × 6 cm and the fitting needs 6 cm of depth. That has to be planned before plastering or before the cladding goes on, because neither a thin partition wall nor a plaster layer on its own will take the box. The visible 14 × 7 cm bezel covers the edges of the cut-out. The fitting is safety class I, so the supply cable must carry an earth conductor. It runs directly on 220–240 V mains with no separate driver. How much light it gives The built-in LED module draws 4 W and delivers 188 lm at 3000 K, a warm white. That is the amount of light that marks a step, a threshold or the edge of a path — it shows you where to put your foot, but it does not light a terrace or a driveway. The diffuser spreads the output wide, so there is no glaring bright spot in the field of view. A colour rendering index of Ra 80 is enough for finding your way after dark. The light source is integrated and cannot be replaced; the manufacturer rates it at L70B50 30,000 h, which at three hours a day works out to roughly 27 years. The fitting runs at a fixed brightness and does not work with a dimmer. Build and resistance The housing is aluminium and the cover is polycarbonate. IP65 means full dust protection and protection against water jets from any direction, so the fitting can sit on a wall with no roof overhang above it. The IK04 impact rating covers accidental knocks, a realistic criterion at step height. An operating range of -30 to 45 °C covers the full year in a Central European climate. The manufacturer gives a three-year warranty. Where it belongs Zambelis intends the E247-W to be built into an outdoor wall: beside entrance steps and garden stairs, in a boundary wall along a driveway, in a balcony wall just above floor level, and in hotel grounds where a run of identical fittings leads guests to the entrance.
