LUMINES B is one of the shallowest recessed profiles in the maker's range: a 21.0 x 9.3 mm section, of which a 16.0 mm wide, 8.3 mm deep body disappears into the groove. Once installed, only a 2.5 mm flange and the cover sit above the surface. This item is the black anodized version, 2.02 m long, catalogue number 10-0022-20. A 16 mm groove, 9 mm deep — that is the whole requirement The manufacturer gives the minimum milled groove depth as 9 mm. That is the key figure for this profile: it lets you recess lighting into a worktop, a shelf, a stair tread or a cabinet front — materials with no room for deeper routing. The LED channel is 13.4 mm wide and 6.8 mm deep, which accommodates typical single- and double-row strips. Anodized, not lacquered — and that is the difference The black B profile comes in two finishes: lacquered (10-0021) and anodized (10-0022, this one). Anodizing is an oxide layer grown within the aluminium itself, not a coating laid on top. In practice that means the edge does not chip when the profile is cut to length, and it stands up better to abrasion — which matters in a profile recessed into a worktop that things slide across. Besides black, the profile is available raw, silver anodized, inox anodized, white lacquered (RAL 9016) and gold lacquered. Installation: press-fit or tape The profile goes into the groove either by press fit or on double-sided tape — the manufacturer lists both techniques. The BASIC cover clips in from above, so the strip can be replaced without removing the profile. End caps come in flat and round versions, in ABS in five colours and in aluminium. The family also includes a contactless switch, which is exactly what you want under a kitchen cabinet. What the profile does not do Three limits are worth knowing before designing the run: Lengths cannot be joined — the manufacturer offers no connectors, so a longer run is either several independent lengths or a made-to-order cut up to 6 m. It is not drive-over rated — not for a floor that is walked or driven on. The driver mounts outside the profile — it needs a planned home, for example in an adjacent cabinet. Sealing and covers In its basic form the profile is IP20. The manufacturer allows sealing to IP68, but that requires a separately purchased sealing kit — fitting a cover alone does not achieve it. BASIC covers come in PMMA, PC 2.0 and PC Fractal, in transparent, frosted, milky, milky frosted, opal and black. The cover choice decides whether you see individual diodes or one continuous line — the milkier it is, the fewer dots, but also the less light gets out.
