The Lucide XIRAX 09119/21/30 is a surface-mounted ceiling spotlight: a square body measuring 25 cm across and 8.8 cm deep, made of powder-coated aluminium in matt black. Four adjustable GU10 heads sit inside it, each in its own square recess. Size and how it mounts The housing covers a 25 × 25 cm square of ceiling and projects 8.8 cm below it — the figure to compare against the clearance you have above an island, a worktop or a cupboard door. It mounts on the surface: it is screwed to the ceiling and needs no cut-out and no void above the plasterboard. A 23 × 23 cm mounting plate, 2 cm thick, goes up first and the body hides it completely. Installation materials are supplied. The fitting is electrical class 1, so the ceiling box has to carry an earth conductor; the supply is 230 V. How much light it gives and in what colour Four 5 W GU10 LED bulbs are included, so nothing needs buying before the light works. Each puts out 320 lm, giving roughly 1280 lm from all four together — about what two old 60 W bulbs produced, and enough to light a medium room on its own. The bulbs use dim-to-warm technology: at full brightness they run at 3000 K, a warm white, and as they are dimmed they pass through 2700 K and 2500 K down to 2200 K, close to candlelight. A dimmer is required to use that and is not supplied. A colour rendering index of Ra 95 means colours look almost as they do in daylight, which matters over a kitchen worktop and at a mirror. Lucide rates the bulbs at 25,000 hours. Aiming the light and where it fits Each of the four heads rotates and tilts independently, so the light can be split — some onto the worktop, some onto a wall or a picture. The beam angle is 40°: directional light that picks out what you point it at rather than filling the room evenly. Lucide intends this fitting for living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, dining rooms, hallways, offices and studies. The shape is modern — one flat matt black square, no ornament.
