Lionel is a narrow pendant light: a cylindrical shade just 6.5 cm across and 34 cm tall, built from vertical black metal slats. The bulb shows between the slats, and the fitting hangs on a black braided cord ending in a round ceiling rose. How big it is and how high it hangs The drop is set anywhere between 50 and 180 cm — Lucide notes this is done before installation, so the cord length is worth working out while the fitting is still on the floor. Over a table the bottom edge of the shade usually ends up 70–80 cm above the surface; at 6.5 cm across a single unit lights a narrow slice of a table, so a longer top is normally given several in a row. The ceiling rose is 11 cm in diameter and covers a standard installation box. Fixing materials are included. Which bulb to buy for it There is one E27 lampholder taking a source of up to 60 W; no bulb is supplied, so colour temperature and brightness are yours to choose. The shade is open rather than closed — the bulb is visible through the slots along its whole length, which is why Lucide recommends a tubular source, matched in shape to the slim cylinder. The lamp can be dimmed, but two things are needed at once: a bulb described as dimmable and a dimmer in the circuit — the fitting itself carries no control gear and switches on an ordinary wall switch. Build and installation The whole body is metal, spray-painted matt black — the slats are black on the inside too, so light escapes through the slots rather than bouncing off a pale lining. The manufacturer describes the light direction as diffuse and all-round: the fitting throws a pattern of vertical stripes onto wall and ceiling. Lionel is intended for dry interiors, runs on 230 V and is protection class 1 — the installation needs a protective earth conductor. The manufacturer gives a 2-year warranty on the fixture.Show more
