EMBED 22959/01/30 is a square recessed spotlight from the Belgian brand Lucide. The body is metal in a matt black powder coat, the mounting plate aluminium. The visible frame measures 9.1 × 9.1 cm at just 3.9 cm high — once installed, only a thin collar stands proud of the ceiling. Rotatable and tiltable — the light can be aimed This is not a fixed downlight. The insert rotates and tilts through 360°, so once installed the beam can be aimed where it is needed: at a wall with a picture, at kitchen cabinet fronts, at a shelf unit. In practice that means the layout of the ceiling points does not have to line up perfectly with the furniture — you correct it afterwards by turning the insert. Cut-out dimensions Two numbers are worth checking before buying: the 8.3 cm mounting diameter and the 10 cm mounting depth. The first decides the size of the hole in the suspended ceiling, the second whether there is enough room above the board. Ten centimetres is a lot for a GU10 fitting; in a shallow ceiling void it can be the deciding factor. The ceiling plate is 8 cm across and the installation materials are included. GU10 socket, no bulb The fitting has a single GU10 (MR16) socket rated for a source of up to 50 W. No bulb is included and the fitting itself has no colour-temperature adjustment — colour and output come with the bulb. Lucide recommends its own 49006/05/30 for this fitting: a GU10 LED, 5 W, 3000 K, dimmable. The fitting can be dimmed provided a dimmable bulb and an external dimmer (not supplied) are used. Power and build The fitting runs on 230 V and is protection class I — the earth conductor must be connected. Its IP20 rating restricts it to dry interiors, away from damp zones. Weight is 0.24 kg. The manufacturer gives a two-year warranty.
