The V-TAC VT-015 LED fluorescent tube is a light source shaped like a classic T8 tube, made of white plastic (nano plastic). It has G13 caps at both ends and connects directly to 230 V mains, without a ballast or starter.Dimensions and fittingThe tube is 150 cm long and 28 mm in diameter — standard dimensions for a linear T8 tube of this length, so it fits existing fixtures with a G13 socket without replacing them. Because the manufacturer designed it for direct 230 V/50 Hz mains connection, the old ballast and starter must be bypassed or removed from the fixture — with the older wiring in place, the tube will not light up.How much light it givesDrawing 15 W, the tube produces a luminous flux of 2250 lm, which at an efficacy of 150 lm/W is well above ordinary linear fluorescent tubes of similar wattage. The light colour is 6500 K, a cool white close to daylight, and a colour rendering index above 80 allows colours to be told apart accurately enough for offices, storage rooms and utility spaces. The beam angle is 160°.Lifespan and warrantyThe manufacturer states a lifespan of 25,000 hours, which at 3 hours of daily use corresponds to roughly 22 years of operation, and resistance to more than 15,000 on/off cycles, so the switch can be used freely without wearing the source out faster.
