IVAR 6L is a six-light pendant from the Polish brand Thoro. Six aluminium tubes 30 cm long hang on white cables from a peach canopy measuring 80 x 20 cm, each set at a different height. Every tube is vertically fluted — the same motif now found on chest fronts, wall panels and kitchen island cladding. Focused light, not ambient wash Each tube throws light downwards in a 36° beam, so IVAR 6L does not fill a room evenly — it lays six distinct pools of light exactly where they are wanted. Over a dining table or a kitchen island the effect is very legible: a bright table and a calmer background around it. As the only light source in a large living room it will do less well than it does over a defined zone. The six LED modules together draw 48 W and deliver 7128 lm at a neutral 4000 K. Colour rendering is Ra 90 — clearly above the usual 80 — so worktops, tableware and food keep their real colours instead of drifting towards grey. PUSH DIMM and DALI-2 dimming as standard Every fitting in the IVAR series ships with PUSH DIMM and DALI-2 control built in. PUSH DIMM lets you set the level from an ordinary momentary (bell-push) switch: a short press switches on and off, holding it runs the brightness smoothly up and down. DALI-2 is the bus standard used in office installations and smart homes, which lets the pendant join lighting scenes alongside the rest of the building. No extra controller has to be bought and no special order version is needed. The drivers come from established makers — TCI, Mean Well and KGP — and the manufacturer states flicker-free operation and a light source life of 50,000 hours. Each comes in ten colours — white, black, beige, ultramarine, burgundy, red ochre, taupe, mocha, olive green and peach — and in two colour temperatures, 3000 K and 4000 K. That makes it possible to pair the pendant over the table with wall lights in the hallway and a ceiling light in the kitchen without mixing styles. Installation The 80 cm canopy is fixed permanently to the ceiling and requires an earth conductor, since the fitting is protection class I. Each tube's cable can be shortened during installation, down from a maximum drop of 200 cm, and setting them to uneven lengths as the dimension drawing shows is part of the design rather than a mistake. The luminaire weighs 8 kg, so the ceiling and the fixing have to be prepared accordingly.Show more
