BENTO SMALL is a pendant lamp by the Polish maker Keter Lighting in which the shade is made of plywood rather than metal or plastic. The WHITE 632 version measures 28 cm across, with white lacquer on both frame and shade. Plywood as a shade material Plywood is cross-laminated veneer — a material that bends into gentle curves and holds its shape without a heavy skeleton. Hence this series' characteristic light, softly rounded form, which sheet metal cannot produce. The shade's rim stays thin and the whole fitting weighs little, which matters when mounting into a suspended ceiling. How it lights The shade is closed above and open below, so light falls in a focused cone downward rather than spreading through the room. That distribution belongs over a table, a worktop or a counter: it lights the working surface and leaves the rest of the room in a calmer half-light. If the lamp is to light a whole room, general lighting will be needed alongside it. The lamp choice matters here The fitting takes one E27 lamp up to 60 W and is sold without a light source. With the shade open below, the lamp is visible from the side and from underneath, so an opal bulb is worth choosing — a clear bulb with visible diodes will dazzle anyone seated at the table. A colour of 2700–3000 K sits best against the warm tone of the plywood. Dimensions and hanging The shade is 28 cm across and the total height with the suspension reaches 110 cm — that is cable allowance, shortened during installation. Over a dining table the lower rim should sit roughly 75–85 cm above the top; at a standard ceiling height that means taking several dozen centimetres out of the cable. Over a kitchen island, where no one sits opposite, it can hang a little higher. Where it works The manufacturer names the living room, a bedroom or study, the hall, the kitchen and hospitality interiors. Given the modest diameter, this version looks best in a run of two or three over a longer counter — a single 28 cm fitting over a wide table will read as small. IP20 places it in dry interiors.
