The Gea Luce GES873N is an outdoor wall light shaped as a rolled cylinder in die-cast aluminium with a matt black finish. It emits in two directions at once — upward and downward — and its built-in 2 × 5 W LED module delivers 450 lm of neutral 4000 K light. It measures 13.5 cm wide, 10 cm high and projects 12 cm from the wall. Adjustable beam — from a narrow slit to a wide spread This is what separates the fitting from an ordinary up-down sconce. Inside the body sit movable wings that set the width of both beams anywhere between 0° and 115°. Closed, they throw a narrow vertical stripe up the wall — a graphic effect that reads well in a rhythm of several fittings along a façade. Opened fully, they fan the light out widely and genuinely light a path or a flight of steps. The adjustment is made once, at installation, and tuned to the particular wall. Construction and durability The body is a die-cast aluminium shell — a material that does not rust and that also carries heat away from the LED module, which is directly reflected in the stated 30,000-hour life. The light apertures are closed with clear glass. An IP54 rating means full protection against settled dust and against splashing water from any direction: the fitting is intended for a façade, terrace, porch or sheltered garden wall, but not for jets of water, nor for a position exposed to driving rain with no overhang above it. The fitting is protection class I, so the installation requires an earth conductor — standard for metal exterior fittings, but worth planning for when running the supply on a façade. Light Two 5 W modules give 450 lm together at 4000 K. That is neutral light — matter-of-fact and legible, with no yellow cast, and it shows the texture of render, timber and stone well after dark. A colour rendering index above 80 is adequate for exterior lighting. The scale matters: 450 lm split across two beams makes this a decorative accent fitting that builds rhythm and emphasises a wall, not a working light for a whole driveway. The LED module is permanently integrated and the transformer is supplied with the fitting — no separate driver to buy and no space to allow for one in the back box. Variants and family The same 2 × 5 W body comes in five finishes: matt white (GES870), graphite (GES871), aluminium grey (GES872), matt black (GES873) and brown (GES874). The code suffix sets the colour temperature — C means 3000 K, N means 4000 K — and the output differs between finishes because a lighter interior reflects more light back out: the white version gives 650 lm, the black one 450 lm. If more light is needed, the same shape exists one size up at 2 × 10 W (GES875–GES877, 12 × 12 × 14.5 cm) with a higher IP65 rating and up to 1300 lm.
