FREYA is a wall light from the Danish brand Nordlux, designed by the studio Says Who. Its silhouette is made of two metal shades: the larger upper one embraces the smaller lower one, which gives the soft, organic outline with not a single sharp edge in it. The black version carries the same matt finish on both shades and on the cable. Indirect light, hidden source The bulb sits entirely between the shades. From any normal viewing angle it is out of sight, so the lamp does not glare even at eye level — above a bed, beside an armchair, or in a hallway. Light escapes sideways and downwards, bounces off the wall and diffuses, giving a soft background rather than a defined pool. This is a mood fitting, not one for reading or working. Changing the bulb without taking it down The lower shade lifts off, so the bulb can be changed without removing the whole lamp from the wall. The socket is E14, there is a single light point, and the maximum bulb wattage is 40 W. No bulb is included — you choose your own, bearing in mind that with a concealed source a warm colour temperature makes more sense than raw brightness. The lamp cannot be dimmed and is not designed for parallel connection of several units. Cable with a switch The fitting has a 150 cm cable with the switch on the cable rather than on the body — so it can be turned on without reaching up to the fitting. The cable is black with a plastic surface and is not replaceable. The manufacturer rates the fitting protection class II (double insulated), which means no earth conductor is needed. Dimensions and build The fitting is 35 cm wide and 26 cm high, the lower shade measures 25 cm across and the supporting tube 1.15 cm. The whole thing weighs 0.72 kg, so it needs no special anchoring. The material is metal, the IP20 rating limits it to dry interiors, and the supply voltage range is 220–240 V.
