NELYA M is an LED chandelier from the Polish brand THORO — a narrow square frame, 80 cm a side, hung on a decorative suspension of adjustable length. Article TH.150, the white version at 4000 K. The specification that matters: CRI 97 This is not an ordinary decorative chandelier. The LED module has a colour rendering index of 97 — a figure found in gallery and studio lighting, not in a typical domestic fitting where 80 is the norm. The difference is visible to the naked eye: fabrics, wood, wall paint and skin look as they do in daylight, without the flattened reds and grey cast over beiges that cheap LEDs produce. The source's registration in the EU EPREL database under number 1329854 confirms Ra 97 and — just as importantly — R9 = 98. R9 describes the rendering of saturated red; in most domestic fittings it is zero, which is exactly why red accents look dirty under them. Here red is rendered in full. Note a small discrepancy: THORO's own product sheet states CRI 98, while EPREL gives 97. Both describe the same very high class. Diffused light, not a spot The LED module runs along the frame and spreads light through the whole room instead of concentrating it in a single pool beneath the fitting. At 5757 lm that gives general lighting sufficient for a room of 25–35 m², without hard shadows and without a bright patch on the table. The square, 80 cm form works over a large dining table, in a living room and in a bedroom with a high ceiling. Suspension: adjustable up to 150 cm The manufacturer states a height of 150 cm — that is the maximum suspension length, adjusted at installation. The same fitting therefore suits a standard 2.5 m ceiling (where the suspension is shortened) as well as a mezzanine or a room with a 3–4 m ceiling. The cable is transparent and the canopy white — both deliberately disappear against a light ceiling, leaving only the frame in view. Dimming and control — to order In the standard version the fitting runs at full output. THORO does, however, offer this model with a control system ordered separately: by remote, by app, in the DALI standard or as PUSH DIMM (dimming from an ordinary momentary push-button). EPREL classifies the source as dimmable with specific control gear — which matches that offer exactly. If you want brightness control, the controlled version must be specified when ordering; it cannot be added later with an ordinary wall dimmer. Energy class F — why, despite 120 lm/W The fitting delivers 5757 lm from 48 W, about 120 lm/W — a very good figure. The label nevertheless reads class F, and that is not an error. The EU class applies to the light source, not the complete luminaire: the module registered in EPREL (SELS-2835NW240-24, brand SOLLUX) produces 1570 lm from 18 W, i.e. 87 lm/W, which places it in class F (from 85 lm/W). High CRI always costs efficiency — a diode at Ra 97 delivers fewer lumens per watt by definition than one at Ra 80. Class F here is the price of light quality, not a sign of poor engineering. Build The structure is entirely aluminium, painted white, weighing just 2.6 kg — which matters when hanging an 80 cm frame from a ceiling. The fitting is made in Poland and carries a 5-year warranty on the LED module. THORO also claims Anti-Flicker technology; the EPREL data confirm a stroboscopic effect SVM = 0, meaning no flicker visible under movement — relevant for desk work and for video cameras. That gives twelve variants of the same design; in one open-plan interior you can pair the L over the table with the M over the island and keep it coherent. Things to bear in mind The LED module is permanently integrated — there are no bulbs to change, and at end of life the whole fitting is serviced (it carries a 5-year warranty).
