Argon SATELITE 2531 chandelier 6xE27 opal glass globes chrome 70 cm

SATELITE 2531 is a six-light chandelier whose opal glass globes sit on chrome arms radiating from a single central sphere. The shades come in two diameters — the largest 20 cm, the rest 15 cm — so the cluster is deliberately asymmetric and reads differently from every side. How big it is and where to hang it The cluster occupies 70 cm across and 46 cm front to back, and the whole fitting hangs on a cable up to 80 cm long. Ceiling to lowest globe measures at most 123 cm, and the cable is shortened at installation, so it suits a room of the usual 2.5 m height. The ceiling rose is 10 cm across and 3 cm deep, so it covers a standard installation box and stays almost unnoticed itself. The fitting weighs 4.2 kg — on a plasterboard ceiling the bracket has to be screwed into the supporting structure rather than into the board. How much light it gives and which bulbs it needs Six E27 lamps do the work, and no bulbs are supplied. The manufacturer allows at most 15 W per socket — a ceiling written for LED, where 15 W is roughly an old 100 W incandescent, and six such points light a whole room. You choose the colour temperature when you buy the lamps; over a dining table most people settle on a warm 2700–3000 K. The shades are milky opal glass: they glow across their whole surface and throw light in every direction, including up onto the ceiling, with the bulb out of sight. As standard, all six globes switch on together; Argon will also build the fitting split across two independent circuits, 4+2 or 3+3, but that has to be ordered with the chandelier. Which interiors it suits The manufacturer intends it for above a dining table, and for living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, hotels and restaurants. A 70 cm wide body shows the depth of the globe arrangement where it has room around it — over a table, or in the middle of a room. The style is modernist with a glamour streak: clean spheres and mirror chrome, no ornament — it suits white and pale wood and contrasts sharply with a dark wall. Construction and installation Arms, central sphere and ceiling rose are chrome-plated steel; the glass shades push onto the lampholders and are held by springs, so they lift off for a bulb change without tools. The fitting is protection class I and therefore needs an earth connection — leave the wiring to an electrician. The SATELITE series also runs to the same chandelier in brass (2532), 15-light versions 87 cm across, and matching wall lights.Show more
