ZAHRA BLACK/GOLD is a flush ceiling light spanning 67 cm: a short stem drops from a round gold ceiling plate, and curved black metal arms run out sideways from it. Two large smoked-glass shades of an irregular, rippled shape sit at their ends, and a third, smaller globe shade hangs between them. How much ceiling it takes up The fitting occupies a 67 x 67 cm square of ceiling and drops 25 cm below it. Set the first figure against the area the lamp is to hang over: the arms reach well beyond the mounting point, so clear space has to remain on both sides of it. The second decides the headroom left, and at 25 cm the fitting suits a ceiling of ordinary height. The manufacturer states a gross weight of 2.4 kg, packaging included. The lamp fixes straight to the ceiling rather than on a cable, so the drop cannot be adjusted. Which bulbs you need to buy The fitting has three E27 sockets, and the manufacturer quotes a 60 W maximum per socket. That is the ceiling for one bulb, not for the whole lamp: with three 60 W bulbs the fitting stays within specification. Bulbs are not included, so you choose the colour and brightness of the light yourself — in this fitting the bulb alone decides both, as the lamp carries no supply electronics of its own. Supply is 230 V, and the fitting is intended for indoor use only. Glass and construction The frame is metal, black, with gold-coloured details — the round ceiling plate is gold. The shades are smoked glass, that is tinted and semi-transparent: such glass passes less light than clear glass and softens the view of the filament, so a lit bulb glares less than it would behind a clear shade. The two large shades open sideways while the middle globe aims its light down, beneath the fitting. Light therefore spreads in three directions rather than in a single downward beam, which makes it a lamp for general room lighting rather than for picking out one worktop. What interior it suits Black metal, gold details and smoked glass make a glamour combination, against the modern, undecorated shape of the arms themselves.
