The Mantra CAYMAN SQ 7824 is a wall light with a separate reading spot — two independent light sources on one 13 × 13 cm square plate, finished in satin nickel. The manufacturer calls this version lector, "reader", and the name is accurate: the whole thing is designed around reading in bed. Two lights, two switches The plate carries two separate LED modules: 3 W / 210 lm — a narrow spot on an adjustable arm, aimed exactly where the book is; 6 W / 410 lm — a module backlighting the acrylic panel in the back plate, giving a soft wash onto the wall. Each has its own switch on the face of the fitting — the two black paddles visible in the photograph. That is what actually decides whether a bedside wall light is usable: you can run the wash alone as a night light, the spot alone for reading beside someone asleep, or both together for 620 lm. No wall switch and no dimmer are needed — the controls are on the fitting. The reading spot The narrow cylinder on its joint throws the beam at one point rather than washing the whole wall. At 210 lm this is not room lighting — it is exactly what an open page needs from half a metre, without waking the person next to you. The arm lets you change the angle when you change position. Light characteristics Both diodes run at 3000 K — warm white, the right choice for a bedroom; cooler 4000 K would work against falling asleep. Colour rendering is CRI 80. The fitting is not dimmable: brightness is set by which of the two modules is on, not steplessly. Life: the modules are permanently built in The manufacturer states plainly that the light sources are not replaceable. There are no bulb sockets — when the diodes are spent the whole fitting is replaced. Declared life is 50,000 hours, about 34 years at four hours a day, alongside 30,000 switching cycles. That second number matters here: a bedside light is switched at least twice a day, and with a separate switch per module, more often. Installation Supply 220–240 V, 50/60 Hz. The fitting is class II (double insulated), so it needs no earth conductor — which matters when mounting above a bed in an older building, where the lighting circuit often has no earth. The IP20 rating restricts it to dry interiors. Dimensions: height 13 cm, width 13 cm, projection from the wall 11.6 cm — with the arm swung out the projection grows, worth allowing for in a narrow gap beside a bed. Weight 0.6 kg.
