A motion detector is rarely something you want to look at. The standard housing is white, and on a dark façade, an anthracite ceiling or a black profile it stands out from across the room. This original Steinel black cover solves that at source: it replaces the factory white shell without changing anything inside the sensor. Which sensors it fits The cover is made exclusively for the square surface-mounted versions (AP eckig). The manufacturer lists the models IS 3180, IS 3360, IS 3360 MX Highbay, IS 345, IS 345 MX Highbay, Light Sensor Dual and NightMatic 5000-3. Flush-mounted and round versions take a different cover variant, so it is worth checking in the sensor's documentation that you have the square surface-mounted build before ordering. Only the housing is swapped The white shell is taken off the sensor body and the black one goes on in its place. The electronics, the detection range and the wiring stay exactly as they were — this is a purely visual part. The round sensor lens is neither covered nor painted over, so it stays white once the black housing is fitted; the result is a black square frame with a light-coloured sensor eye at its centre. Black RAL 9005 The colour is deep black RAL 9005 — the same standard used for window profiles, façade luminaires and aluminium joinery. That is what stops the sensor from standing out against a dark background: a suspended ceiling in a hall, an anthracite façade or a black wall in a communal area.
