ARTHUR is a five-arm chandelier on a chain, spanning 75 cm. Lacquered steel arms in gloss gold spread out from a central cylinder and curve upwards, each ending in a low, drum-shaped shade in white with a fine gold veining. The fitting is intended for indoor use only. How big it is and where to hang it The chandelier takes up 75 cm in both directions and reaches a maximum height of 71 cm including the chain — the chain shortens, so the drop adapts to the height of the room. Above a dining table of the usual 75 cm height it is normally hung so that the lower edge of the shades sits 70–80 cm above the tabletop; with a 75 cm span it keeps its proportions over a table from about 90 cm wide. The fitting weighs 3.1 kg and attaches to the ceiling with a round canopy that covers the installation box. It arrives in a 64 × 64 × 47 cm carton — a figure worth checking against the way in and against the delivery itself. Which bulbs to buy The chandelier has five E27 lampholders and takes bulbs of up to 15 W per light point. Bulbs are not included, but they are replaceable, so the colour and brightness are yours to choose. A 15 W ceiling on an E27 thread means LED in practice — incandescent and halogen bulbs only start above that figure. Over a table, 2700–3000 K is the usual choice: warm light with a slightly yellow cast. Five separate light points spread across 75 cm distribute the light more widely than a single lamp, and each shade directs its share of the beam downwards onto the surface below. There is no dimmer inside the fitting, so dimming depends on a bulb described as dimmable and a separate dimmer. Finish and interiors The frame is steel lacquered in gloss gold, and the pale shades break that colour up — hence the classic character of the piece: no ornament, but distinctly curved arms.
