ARTE 7097-0163 is a large pendant lamp built from several interlaced rings in a silver finish. A luminous edge runs the length of each loop, and the body hangs on three thin cables from a round ceiling canopy. The form spans 90.5 cm. How big it is and where to hang it Compare the 90.5 cm span with the width of the surface the lamp is meant to hang over. Above a table 80–90 cm wide it takes up practically the whole width, so its natural place is a larger table or an open part of the living room where the form has room around it. The manufacturer gives a total length of 200 cm — that is the luminaire plus its suspension, measured from the ceiling. Over a table the lower edge is usually set 70–80 cm above the tabletop, so the cables will need shortening: in a room of ordinary height the full 200 cm would reach almost to the floor. How much light it gives The built-in LED module draws 138 W and delivers 16,800 lm. That is more than twenty times a former 60 W bulb, an amount meant to light a whole large room rather than brighten one corner. At 3000 K the light is warm white — calmer than daylight, without the distinctly yellow cast of 2700 K. The light source is integrated, so no bulbs are bought for it, but the light colour cannot be changed later and the module cannot be replaced. The manufacturer gives a five-year warranty. Dimming Brightness can be adjusted, though not from the luminaire itself: a wall dimmer is required, it is not included and is bought separately. Without one the lamp runs at full output only. Build The construction combines metal and plastic: the loops have a metal body and the light leaves through pale diffusers along their inner side.
