Arno is a table lamp in which the glass itself does the glowing: a green-tinted, vertically reeded cylinder stands on a stepped aged brass base, with the light source hidden underneath and aimed upward. The lamp is 36.4 cm tall and 17.1 cm across. Where it stands and how it switches At 17.1 cm across it takes up little surface — it fits on a bedside cabinet as readily as on a side table beside a sofa. It weighs 3.2 kg, so it stands firmly despite the slim silhouette. It runs from a plug, and the manufacturer fits a switch in a gold housing on the cord, so the lamp is switched from the table top rather than by reaching for the fitting itself. It ships in a 55 × 26 × 26 cm carton. How much light it gives A GX53 LED lamp of 9 W and 600 lm is supplied; the manufacturer rates it as the equivalent of a traditional 55 W bulb. That is light for an accent and for lifting a corner of a room, not for lighting a whole interior. At 3000 K the colour is warm and slightly yellow. The source is not built in permanently — you replace the GX53 lamp itself, for which the manufacturer quotes 25,000 hours. Dimming works only with dimmable smart lamps; the fitting is not intended for a wall dimmer. Build and the other versions The body is steel and the cylinder optical glass with a prismatic texture. The vertical flutes split the light and lay bands of brightness across the table instead of throwing an even pool. A brass ring binds the top edge of the glass, and the base is three brass plates of decreasing diameter. The lamp is protection class I and is meant for interiors only. The glass alone is carried as a spare part under the number GS1022. The Arno family also holds the green version on polished nickel and two in smoked glass — on brass and on nickel.Show more
