ZOOM DL034 is a recessed downlight 6 cm across in black aluminium, with a built-in LED module of 6 W / 670 lm at 4000 K and a 60° beam. The key figure is IP65. IP65 in a recessed fitting — what that opens up An ordinary ceiling spot is IP20 and belongs only in dry rooms. IP65 means dust-tight and resistant to a water jet from any direction, which moves this fitting into an entirely different set of uses: a bathroom ceiling, including above a bath and over a shower enclosure — steam, condensation and splashing are no problem, covered outdoor spaces: a roof soffit, a covered terrace, a carport, a loggia, laundry, boiler room, garage — dusty and damp places. What IP65 does not cover: immersion. Do not fit it where water can stand. The manufacturer gives: Hole diameter: 55 mm (round) Required depth: 65 mm Visible trim: Ø 60 mm, built-in height 60 mm The 65 mm depth is the critical condition: a suspended ceiling usually has plenty, but plasterboard fixed close to the slab, or a roof soffit, needs checking before ordering. The trim covers the hole with only 2.5 mm of margin per side, so the cut has to be clean. Light quality 670 lm from 6 W at 4000 K (neutral white) with a colour rendering index of CRI 90. High CRI matters directly in a bathroom: at CRI 80 skin in the mirror looks sallow, at 90 it looks natural. Neutral 4000 K is in turn the standard where people wash, shave and put on make-up. The 60° beam is wide: from a 2.5 m ceiling it lights a circle about 2.3 m across on the floor, so several fittings at 1.5–2 m centres give even light with no dark fields. Efficacy works out at about 112 lm/W, but the manufacturer declares energy class G — for directional fittings with a narrow optic the class is calculated more strictly than the plain ratio suggests. What this version does not have The fitting is not dimmable and the 4000 K colour is fixed — the LED module is permanently built in and not replaceable, so when the diodes are spent the whole fitting is replaced. If you need a different set of features, the ZOOM series offers separate article numbers: a 3000 K version, a 12 W version with TRIAC dimming, and variants taking replaceable GU10 bulbs. The choice is made at purchase — this fitting cannot be converted.
