BATALLAS is a large, flat ceiling light 65 cm across and only 7 cm deep. A brown aluminium ring surrounds a white acrylic disc that stands slightly proud of it – from below you see one even luminous surface with the rim reading as a dark frame. At this diameter it lights a whole room: 3361 lm suits a space of a dozen or so square metres. Colour temperature set by switch The most important feature of this fitting is invisible in the photo: a DIP switch on the body sets the colour temperature anywhere in the 2700–4000 K range. It is a decision made once, at installation, but a real one – the same fitting can give warm light in a living room or neutral light in a kitchen or study, with nothing to replace and no remote. Dimming The fitting works with TRIAC dimmers (a phase-cut dimmer fitted in the back box in place of the switch). It has no controller of its own and no wireless control, so the dimmer has to be planned into the installation. Light source The 48 W LED module is built in permanently – there is no bulb to change. The acrylic disc spreads the light evenly, with no visible diode points. Supply is 230 V and IP20 places it in dry interiors. Installation The fitting mounts directly to the ceiling. At 65 cm across and about 6.8 kg it is worth fixing into the structural ceiling rather than plasterboard alone. Its low profile (7 cm) also suits rooms with limited height.
