Nori 27 is a pendant from the Danish brand Design For The People, drawn by Bjørn + Balle. The metal shade is 27 cm across, softly rounded into a cone, and topped with a piece of oiled walnut – that contrast between white and warm wood carries the whole design. Shade and proportions The shade measures 27 cm in diameter and 24.5 cm in height, so it is noticeably deeper than the usual flat cone: light gathers inside and leaves as a contained downward beam while the sides stay matt white. The complete fixture weighs 0.7 kg, which matters when hanging from a suspended ceiling or a rail. Suspension and cable The white textile-braided cable allows a drop of up to 300 cm below the ceiling and is shortened during installation. Worth knowing in advance: the manufacturer states the cable is not replaceable, so shorten it deliberately and once. Light source The E27 lampholder takes a bulb of up to 40 W – no bulb is included, so the colour and output are yours to choose. Dimming works provided you fit a dimmable bulb; the fixture itself has no built-in dimming electronics. Supply is 230 V and the fitting is class II (double insulated), so no protective earth is needed. IP20 places it in dry interiors. Alone and in groups Nori comes in three diameters – 18, 27 and 39 cm – and the series is explicitly meant for mixing sizes in one composition. The 27 cm is the middle size: it works on its own above a bedside cabinet, or in a row over a kitchen island or table, where three give an even rhythm without blocking the view across the table.
