ONI is one of the lowest profiles in the Lumines catalogue: the cross-section is 14.4 mm wide and only 6.5 mm high. That height is the whole point of the product — the profile disappears under a shelf edge, in the recess of a kitchen cabinet or in a ceiling niche, where there is no room for a standard 10–15 mm channel. What fits inside The inner channel is 12.5 mm wide and the manufacturer states a maximum LED strip width of 12 mm. All common 8 and 10 mm strips fit with room to spare, and 12 mm strips fit exactly. Measure your own strip together with any silicone coating before buying — IP65 coated strips are often 1–2 mm wider than their IP20 equivalents. Cooling and light An aluminium profile is not decoration — it works as a heatsink. An LED strip glued straight onto a furniture board heats up and loses both output and lifetime; the same strip in aluminium passes its heat into the profile and runs cooler. With a low profile like ONI there is a second effect: the diode sits close to the cover, so the light spreads wider and less of it is lost in the channel walls. Cover and end caps ONI takes a polycarbonate cover from the LEAN series in three versions: transparent (11-3480-10), milky (11-3481-10) and frosted (11-3482-10). Transparent passes the most light but leaves the diode dots visible; milky diffuses them most strongly and gives a uniform line of light — usually the right choice for lighting a kitchen worktop, where diodes reflect in glossy fronts. End caps come as 2-in-1 ABS (white 12-1901-01, black 12-1902-01, inox 12-1903-01, grey 12-1904-01, lacquered silver 12-1905-01) and as anodised silver aluminium, with a cable hole (12-1955-10) or without (12-1955-11). Three ways to mount it The manufacturer allows for three options: double-sided tape, clipping onto a metal mounting clip (white 13-1091-02, black 13-1132-02, silver 14-2028-86), or screwing it down. The clip is the most serviceable solution — the profile snaps in and out without damaging the surface, which matters in furniture, where the strip is replaced more often than the profile. It pairs well with stainless-steel fronts, dark wood and grey worktops; with white furniture, the white lacquered profile (10-1761-10) or the silver anodised one (10-1764-10) is the more natural choice. Anodising is a conversion coating, not paint — it does not chip when the profile is cut or when the cover is pressed in. Cutting and joining An aluminium profile is cut with a hacksaw or a mitre saw with an aluminium blade; at furniture corners a 45° cut is used. A one-metre length is convenient wherever an exact fit to a shelf or drawer matters — for longer runs, use 2.02 m or 3 m sections to reduce the number of visible joints.
