The Steinel IR Micro DALI-2 APC is a ceiling presence detector using passive infrared, designed around a single workstation. The module visible from below measures just ⌀ 80 × 20.5 mm and the lens itself 15 × 15 mm — what remains in a finished ceiling is a small white disc. Detection is handled by a patented multi-segment pyro sensor.Presence, not movementThe difference is practical: a motion sensor switches off once you stop walking about, a presence detector keeps the light on while you sit and write. The detection field is 4 × 4 m for radial movement (towards the sensor) and 6 × 6 m for tangential (across it), giving roughly 36 m² of cover over a full 360°. Recommended mounting height is 2.8 m.Light control, not just switchingThe detector measures room light between 2 and 1000 lx and can hold a constant level, with the luminaires contributing only what daylight does not. Fully automatic and semi-automatic modes are available (manual on, automatic off — usually the more economical choice in an office), plus teach and test modes for commissioning.DALI-2, D4i and Bluetooth configurationThis is the DALI-2 APC version: the detector is certified by the DALI Alliance for Part 101 and Part 103, and additionally as a D4i input device. In practice that means it can be addressed from an external controller and integrated into an existing system, rather than only driving luminaires in broadcast mode. Bus load is 4 mA — the equivalent of two DALI devices, worth counting when sizing the line.
