The s.luce Orb in its 12-light version is a chandelier built from a 160 cm white metal bar and twelve hand-formed clear glass globes hanging beneath it on thin cables. The globes come in three diameters — 20, 30 and 40 cm — and hang at different heights, so the arrangement is deliberately not symmetrical.How large it is and how it hangsThe bar measures 160 × 25 cm and is 4 cm thick, so the fitting occupies a strip more than a metre and a half long under the ceiling — the figure to compare with the length of the surface it will hang over. Maximum drop is 150 cm and is shortened by setting the cable lengths: over a table the bottom of the globes usually sits 70–80 cm above the top, and a dining table is around 75 cm high.The fitting alone weighs 17 kg — the load the bar's ceiling fixing has to carry.
