A Basic end cap with a hole for the LUMINES Y LED profile, in inox, moulded in ABS. It closes the end of the profile and lets the supply lead out. Why a cap with a hole In the Y system the driver sits outside the profile. The lead from the LED strip therefore has to leave the profile – and that is exactly what the hole in this cap is for. A typical installation puts the holed cap at one end (the lead to the driver exits here) and the solid cap at the other. Without a cap the end of the profile stays open: strip, cover and aluminium edges are exposed, and dust falls in. The cap closes the profile at the face so the line of light ends cleanly. Fit: profile Y only This is a system part, not a universal one. It fits the LUMINES Y profile and its BASIC cover and nothing else – the cap's cross-section reproduces that particular profile. A cap from another LUMINES system will not enter, or will not hold. It is push-fit – no screws, no adhesive. The cap can be pulled off and refitted when the strip needs servicing. Inox – which profile finish Profile Y comes in five finishes: white painted, black anodised, inox anodised, silver anodised and raw. This cap matches the inox version – a cool steel tone that under bright light can read almost like polished stainless steel. Worth checking before ordering: silver anodised and inox are two different shades in the same catalogue, and at the end of a profile the difference is visible close up. ABS, not aluminium The cap is moulded in ABS. Within this family some colours (black, silver) are also available in aluminium – this is not that version. ABS is lighter, does not scratch the anodised surface as it is pushed in, and costs less; aluminium is chosen where the cap must match the profile exactly in feel and in the way it catches light. A word about the Y profile itself Y is a rectangular surface-mounted profile, designed chiefly for installation in furniture, but also used in suspended installations as a decorative element. Light leaves it perpendicularly. With the Y M1 mounting profile the height of the LED strip can be adjusted, and with it the beam spread.
