COBEN FLOOR is a floor lamp 170 cm tall built from black metal tube: a slim column on a round base carrying an articulated arm that ends in a conical shade 25 cm across. The inside of the shade is gold.Three joints, meaning light where you need it This is not a lamp you set down and leave. The arm has a pivot at its root, an elbow halfway along and a rotation at the shade itself, so the light source can be reached out over an armchair, drawn back over a side table, or turned to the wall. At 170 cm tall, the shade in its extended position falls above the head of a seated person — exactly where reading light is needed, rather than behind the back where it throws a shadow onto the book. That is the most practical property of this construction and the reason to choose it over a fixed-arm lamp.The gold interior works on the quality of the light The inside of the cone is gold, and not merely as decoration. The black, opaque outer surface lets no light through sideways, so the whole output reflects off the inner surface and comes down.
