Halden 5198WH is an outdoor LED wall light shaped like a rounded half-dome: its flat back sits against the façade, and the curved body of powder-coated cast aluminium, finished in white (RAL 9003), is closed underneath by a clear, textured, UV-stabilised polycarbonate diffuser. A microwave motion sensor with a daylight switch is built into the fitting. How the motion sensor works The MC030S L sensor switches the light on when it detects movement and keeps it on while movement continues, and the daylight switch limits operation to the hours of darkness. From the factory the sensor is set to the full detection area, a 5 s hold time and the light threshold switched off, which means it also reacts to movement in daylight. After installation you adjust these settings using the supplied instructions. How much light and what kind The light draws 8.5 W and gives 682 lm — slightly less than an old 60 W bulb — at 3000 K, a warm white. The light is diffuse and directed downwards: it lights the wall below the fitting and the ground in front of it and nothing goes upwards (ULOR 0%). The source is an integrated Philips Fortimo LED module with the driver inside the housing, so there is no bulb to buy. The module and the control gear are replaced by a professional service, not by the user. The manufacturer rates the module at over 50,000 hours (L80B20) and the driver at 50,000 hours. Size, mounting and connection The wall light is 31 cm wide and 15 cm high, projects 15.5 cm from the wall and weighs 1.64 kg. It is fixed on an intermediate plate with two slotted 7 × 10 mm holes at 100 mm spacing. The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm², or up to 3 × 1.5 mm² when luminaires are looped through. Only a round-sheathed cable of 7–10.5 mm passes through the gasket without breaking the seal. This is a protection class I luminaire, so it needs an earth conductor, and installation is carried out by a qualified electrician. Where it fits IP65 means dust-tight and protected against water jets, so the light can be mounted on an uncovered façade, and IK10 stands for resistance to an impact of 20 J. With its motion sensor it suits a front entrance, a balcony, a fence, and the entrances and terraces of hotels and restaurants.
