A triangular profile that emits at an angle SONO differs from an ordinary LED profile in one respect: its cross-section is triangular, and the diffuser does not lie parallel to the surface but at an angle. As a result the light does not go straight down but directionally — it grazes a wall, a cabinet or a worktop instead of lighting the space beneath. This is a profile for washing surfaces, not for general lighting. Recessed and plastered in — it disappears into the ceiling SONO installs flush, to be plastered in, in a ceiling or a wall. Once the filler is finished, only the slot with its diffuser remains visible — no frame, no housing, no visible body. The diffuser also sits deep within the profile, which limits glare (UGR): looking along the line of light you see the lit surface, not the diodes. SONO also comes in black, silver and raw, and in 1 m and 3 m lengths, with up to 6 m to order. Worth checking before buying: the profile cannot be joined, so the length of the line of light has to be achieved in one piece rather than assembled from shorter ones. What else is needed The profile is an aluminium extrusion — it does not light on its own. A complete build needs a diffuser (BASIC range: clear, frosted, opal, frosted-opal or black), an LED tape, end caps with an aperture, and a driver mounted outside the profile — SONO has no room for one inside. All of these are bought separately. Conditions of use The profile cannot be sealed — it is rated IP20, so dry interiors only. The aluminium also works as a heatsink: an LED tape stuck directly to the base of the profile sheds its heat into the metal, which measurably extends its life compared with tape stuck to plasterboard.
