Jim To-Go is a portable rechargeable lamp from the Danish brand Nordlux – 30.3 cm tall, black metal, with a carrying handle and charging over the included micro-USB cable. It gives 300 lumens at a warm 2700 K. Three settings, three runtimes The key feature is the 3-step Moodmaker™ – switching between three brightness levels. The manufacturer publishes a runtime for each, per charge: 300 lm – 5 hours 150 lm – 10 hours 75 lm – 18 hours That is not a cosmetic difference. At full output Jim covers an evening at the table; on the lowest step it runs a whole night with reserve to spare. A full charge from empty takes 7 hours, so a lamp charged during the day is ready by evening. The handle is not decoration Jim was designed by the Danish duo Says Who. The silhouette is rounded and airy, and the handle above the shade does real work: you pick the lamp up one-handed and move it to wherever it is needed – terrace to balcony, table to windowsill, garden to indoors. At 300 lumens and 2700 K the light is warm and soft – the 16 cm plastic shade spreads it evenly. CRI 80 is the usual level for mood lighting. No mains lead, no installation The lamp runs on a built-in battery – there is no cable to a socket. The supplied 100 cm micro-USB cable is for charging only, so the power source can be a power bank, a phone charger or a port in the car. The switch sits on the base, underneath. Class III (low voltage) – no mains voltage appears in the lamp, a direct consequence of battery operation. Outdoors – with one caveat IP54 means protection against dust and splashing water from any direction: rain and a damp evening do it no harm. The manufacturer does not, however, rate it for seaside use – in salt-laden air Jim is the wrong choice. The LED is permanently built in, with a stated life of 30,000 hours.
