The FERNE Nexo FNEK658 is a garden chair with armrests whose seat and back are covered by a dense field of elongated, rounded openings. This version comes in wine ink (Pantone 244 U) — a deep, muted burgundy — with a matt smooth surface. The chair is light, stacks, and stands up to changeable weather. Perforation instead of slats Nexo is FERNE's answer to the same brief as the Brene collection, solved differently: instead of a rhythm of narrow slats, the defining device here is perforation. The pattern of elongated, rounded openings takes visual weight out of the form and refers directly to modernist and contemporary façades — hence a collection named for its architectural inspiration. The practical effect is twofold: air passes freely through the seat, so skin does not stick to it in summer, and after rain the water falls straight through instead of pooling in a hollow. Comfort and geometry The seat is contoured and the edges flow into one another — no sharp terminations to cut into the thighs. It measures 40.9 cm deep and 37.3 cm wide, with its front edge 46 cm above the floor: standard dining height, matching tables with a 74–76 cm top. The backrest angle is chosen so that you can sit at a table for longer than a single meal. The armrests are moulded in one piece with the body, so there are no bolted joints to work loose over time. Dimensions and load The chair occupies 59.5 cm across and 54.5 cm front to back, standing 81 cm tall. The armless version (FNEK558) is 10 cm narrower — if you are planning a set around a table, that difference decides how many chairs fit. The manufacturer states a maximum load of 110 kg. The construction stacks, so a whole set disappears into one pile out of season; for wholesale transport they are packed 24 to a unit, with a pallet stack of roughly 194 cm. Outdoors and indoors The plastic resists moisture and changeable weather, so the chair can stay out on a terrace or in a garden. Nothing stops it working equally in a dining room, a kitchen or a hospitality setting — the perforated form and muted burgundy do not read as "garden furniture". The collection shares one palette, so colours can be mixed without the result looking accidental. Care The smooth matt surface has no seams or joints to collect dirt; the perforations are most easily cleared with a soft brush. Water with a mild detergent is enough for washing — no solvents, no abrasives. The plastic FERNE uses is fully recyclable.
