CALVO is a pendant made for a table: a black bar 76 cm long with three white opal glass shades below it, each on its own cable and topped by a hammered gold collar. Three G9 sockets, 28 W each. What size table it suits The footprint is 76 × 16 cm — the bar is narrow and the 16 cm shades overhang it on both sides. The rule of thumb for a rectangular table is that a linear fitting should span roughly half to two-thirds of the top, which puts CALVO on tables of 120–180 cm. Over a 90 cm top it will dominate; over a three-metre one it will look lost. Three light points spread across 76 cm light the whole length of the table rather than one pool in the middle. That is the substantive difference from a single pendant of the same wattage. Drop: 51–151 cm The cables are cut to length at installation anywhere between 51 and 151 cm, measured from ceiling to the bottom of the shade — a very wide range that covers both a standard 2.5 m ceiling and a tall room. Eight times less electricity, negligible heat, many times the life. Because no source is supplied, you choose the energy class and the colour temperature yourself when you buy the bulbs. For a dining room 2700–3000 K warm white is usually the right call. Dimming also depends on the bulb: halogen works with an ordinary phase dimmer, LED only if it is sold as dimmable. Build Bar and collars are metal, the shades opal glass. The bar is matt black, the collars a distinctly rough, hammered gold — the only decorative note in the whole fitting, and what gives it its character. The glass is opal all the way through, so it glows evenly and the filament is not visible through it. The set weighs 2.76 kg. It mounts to the ceiling on the bar's long rose. The fitting is for dry interiors only — the manufacturer quotes no IP rating for it, so it does not belong over a bath, in a shower enclosure, or outdoors.
