Once the grease has been washed out of the tie rod end or axial joint, the ball joint will fail within a few thousand kilometers. At the latest, the defective rubber boots or ball joints will be flagged during the vehicle inspection (TÜV). Depending on the Porsche model, the tie rods can consist of two or three main components.
