Each Petrifilm Aerobic Count Plate contains a water-soluble gelling agent, nutrients, and an indicator - all the components necessary for the growth of microorganisms without the need for agar preparation. The Petrifilm Aerobic Count Plate provides the total number of aerobic bacteria in just 48 hours. A red indicator dye in the plate stains all colonies red for better contrast and easier colony counting. The red colonies are also easily distinguished from opaque food particles that can cause confusion with other plating methods.
