Balme is a single pendant from the Italux collection in which the glass does all the work. The shade is a cone of amber ribbed glass, and above it, on a short brass-toned neck, sits a second, smaller glass piece shaped like an inverted cup. Everything else is black: the ceiling rose and the cable the lamp hangs from. Glass and light The amber glass is deeply fluted, so a lit bulb never reads as a single point; it breaks into vertical bands of brighter and darker lines. The amber tint itself warms the light whichever bulb you fit, and casts a honey-coloured glow onto the ceiling and walls. This is a mood fitting with a clearly decorative character, not a source of strong general light. Size and suspension The shade measures 15.5 cm across and 26 cm high, and the total suspension height including the cable is 99 cm. At that diameter Balme works well in a row: two or three units over a kitchen island or a dining table give more light and a stronger rhythm than one large fitting. A single unit suits a bedside table, a hallway or a worktop. Light source The lamp takes one E27 socket rated up to 40 W. The bulb is not supplied, so the colour and output are your choice.
