Grom HPLC Column SpheriGrom CN, 5 μm 75 x 4,6 mm
Grom cyano columns have been produced by Dr. Maisch since 2016 under the series name SpheriGrom. Cyanophoric columns are generally produced by binding a cyanopropylsilane to silicon dioxide. The result is a column with a polar functionality due to the C-N group and a non-polar functionality due to the propyl group. The column therefore has a medium polarity and is suitable for both normal phase and reversed phase mode. In reversed phase mode, the column is less retentive than a C8 column and is similar in polarity to a C3 column for the retention of neutral compounds. This makes the column ideal for situations where retention is too high with a C8 column. In normal phase mode, the cyano column is a less active polar phase than silica gel, giving you more flexibility in separation development.
